Terms of use Last Revised January 2019

Who Stole My Data? (WSMD) was created with the aim of connecting consumers who have had their personal data stolen, leaked or otherwise misused with members of the legal profession. WSMD does not provide legal advice and will never sign up consumers to products, services or contractual commitments on their behalf. It will not pressure or coerce its consumer clients into accepting services that are inappropriate for them.

WSMD will record details from prospective claimants (in accordance with its Privacy Policy) about who they are, where they are based and what personal data may have used by a third party. These details will be passed on to carefully selected law firms selected in accordance with WSMD's policy that may change from time to time but will only be with a view to making a prospective claim on behalf of the consumer. WSMD has assembled those law firms it knows are best equipped to deal with the new landscape of data claims arising from the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).WSMD uses the information you give us to connect you with the WSMD law firms that are experts in handling and advising on data claims.If WSMD cannot assist a consumer, they will be notified as soon as possible – without prejudice for that consumer to be able to seek advice elsewhere. If a person or entity has any concerns about the advice received from a legal firm put forward by WSMD, they are entitled to raise any concerns with the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and/or the Legal Ombudsman. WSMD will also do its best to answer any questions or concerns directly. WSMD offers no warranty, guarantee or liability for any of the advice the law firms it introduces to a consumer. WSMD is purely an advertising and data aggregation company and will be handling marketing, advertising, call response and other ancillary services that are directly in relation to a specific claim. WSMD is not in any way paid any sum of money that affects how much a person or entity pays to any law firm, or in any way diminishes the value of any claim.

GDPR and qualifying claims

In order for potential claimants to use our services, they must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Be resident or domiciled in the European Union or be a citizen of a European Union Member State;
  • Have a bank account and a fixed correspondence address;
  • Be prepared to provide us with details of their personal data insofar as it may be applicable to a claim (we process this data in accordance with our Privacy Policy).

Please note claims under the GDPR are very recent and are yet to be fully tested in the English Courts. While currently the legislation states that potential claimants do not need to prove loss or damage, we cannot guarantee that this is any way means a claim will be more likely to be successful. WSMD makes no guarantees that any claim it refers to its members will be successful or will lead to a payment. WSMD reserves the right to reject and delete a consumer's details (and details of their prospective claim) for any reason it sees fit.

Confidentiality and a public service

Any information provided to WSMD is treated with the utmost confidentiality and privacy by the company and its members. We will not pass data onto any third parties without consent and will always ensure where possible your data is treated by the third parties we engage, with the same level of confidentiality that it is treated by WSMD. WSMD believes that data privacy and use of personal data is its social responsibility. Any concerns about the conduct of a company, person and/or organisation in relation to how they use or process personal data should be raised without delay to the Information Commissioner's Office.
